The Town of Halton Hills is holding a Special Meeting of Council under Section 26 of the Planning Act to inform the public about the Town’s intent to establish a Protected Major Transit Station Area (PMTSA) around the Georgetown GO Station. A PMTSA is an area planned for higher‑density, mixed‑use development near major transit stations. In this case, the PMTSA would apply within the Georgetown GO Station / Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan study area and would guide future land use, building types, and minimum density requirements near the station.
The purpose of this Section 26 Special Meeting of Council is to:
Discuss potential revisions to the Georgetown GO Station Area / Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan.
Share information about the proposed Official Plan Amendment to establish a PMTSA boundary.
Provide an opportunity for the public to comment on issues or matters that should be considered before the Town seeks Provincial approval of the PMTSA.
No decisions will be made at this meeting. A future Public Open House and a Statutory Public Meeting will be held before Council considers adopting the Official Plan Amendment.
